the whole debate last night was obama saying no to romney's agenda. we all learned romney's agenda. nobody learned obama's agenda. now he's going back to negativism. this is a huge mistake. let me tell you something else romney did to get reaction. your man obama is going to have so much trouble. romney said to 68 million viewers, i can make a deal. i can go across the aisle like i did in massachusetts. in fact he even said about his tax reform plan, if you don't like the specific version let's talk about some other options. but you, mr. president, you couldn't make a deal. you had a deal, you broke the deal with john boehner. that's what the woodward book is all about. in other words, this is something independents love. i say clinton democrats are going to go for romney because romney knows how to make a deal by crossing the aisle and obama can't do it. >> here's where i agree with you. i think the governor of massachusetts showed up last night. not the guy who's been running for president for the last 18 months. he pivoted to the middle for the first time really and he pivoted ha

here is the truth about obama and romney, neither a stellar debater. obama didn't shine in the democratic primary debates, biden won them. that's why obama picked biden. candidate obama had a tendency to ramble in the debates, got better during mccain one on ones. while romney did well in this season's gop debates, had rough performances, bet you $10,000 he did. romney performances, the unspoken body language that the camera captured, they were brutal against ted kennedy. ivy league will enjoy biden versus ryan more. trust me. >>> turning back to the brand new battleground polls. there's a different pattern emerging, president obama is ahead in new hampshire, tighter in nevada and north carolina. joining me, director of the marist poll. good to see you in person. >> welcome to the home of the new york yankees. >> you're going to blow the playoff run. >> i am worried. >> we want the beltway series in washington. we have been looking at this as sort of the generic, the general all nine states. what is your take away? >> i think what you're seeing is a ve

. >>> president obama took a break from debate preparation today in nevada to visit the set of the racial maddow tv commercial. a new national nbc news poll tonight shows that 52% of registered voters view the president positively, 42% view him negatively. 41% view mitt romney positively, 44% view romney negatively. mitt romney's favorability rating is lower than every other presidential nominee's rating at this point in the election in the history of this poll, except for george h.w. bush's 34/52 rating. and he lost that election. tonight, ann romney seems sure that the country will soon realize how lucky we are that mitt romney is running for president. >> i know he's very well prepared. he's focused, he's very bright. i think the country will be blessed by having someone with his skill set, his experience and his -- just his goodness. to be able to run this country. this guy does care that he's out there. and he's a person with compassion. >> first lady michelle obama did not attempt to lower expectationings for her husband today. >> he doesn't need much advice. he's a very good debate
